Celina gets TxDOT grant for highway beautification

Celina has been awarded grant funding from the Texas Department of Transportation Green Ribbon Landscaping Improvement Program to enhance visual character reduce air pollution along highway corridors.
The project includes softscape construction for about 7.2 miles of roadway median on Preston Road, replacing plant materials in existing beds while maintaining the current irrigation system.
Construction will begin in July 2024 and finish by the end of the year. The city will be overseeing the project, with design insights from Norris Design and contracting with C. Green Scaping LP, following TxDOT standards.
Separately, Celina plans a city-funded project to replace trees in Preston Road medians. This project will be finalized by late 2024, with work starting in February 2025 and ending that September.
