Norris Design is honored to have contributed to two projects named Mountain States Best Projects by Engineering News Record (ENR) in 2022. ENR’s annual awards program is dedicated to honoring the best construction projects in several U.S. regions, along with the companies that designed and built them. The South Gondola Parking Structure in Breckenridge was recognized as the Best Project in the Landscape/Urban Development category. The Fort Collins Alley Renovations were named the Best Project in the Renovation/Restoration category.

South Gondola Parking Structure

The new South Gondola Lot parking garage provides efficient parking for visitors to the gondola at Breckenridge Ski Resort and Main Street downtown. The addition of this facility will improve the parking capacity and traffic efficiency along Park Avenue and will also expand multi-modal circulation with an extension to the bike and pedestrian recreational path through the Town. This recreational path also extends to a plaza along the river, providing a place to gather.

The Tenney Court North and West Oak enhancements continue the successful work of the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority (DDA) in revitalizing several historic downtown alleys. To date, the alleys that have been enhanced have become an iconic and identifiable element of the urban fabric of Fort Collins and a precedent for communities around the country. This project builds on that legacy, creating aesthetically pleasing pedestrian corridors that enhance the economic vitality, vibrancy and uniqueness of the Fort Collins community. Design solutions express the history and unique context of each alley by translating their stories at the pedestrian scale through artistic elements, materials and character-defining features.
